Hi there. I’m a designer and researcher.
I believe that good design is clear, honest, and accessible. I love helping people:
- understand messy problems
- connect with customers
- identify needs and opportunities
- deliver thoughtful design
I have 20 years of experience leading complex projects in technology and civic innovation.
I started my career as a writer and content designer at Apple. Since then, I’ve served in various full-time and consulting roles for startups, publishers, creative studios, and government agencies. I’m currently working with clients on service design and research projects.
I occasionally edit books, teach, and talk about design. In 2014, I cowrote Nicely Said: Writing for the Web with Style and Purpose, which has been called practical and timeless.
I live in Virginia with my kiddo, our dog, and a multitude of plants.
